Rural living at its best. Dedicated to growing our future.
The mission statement as noted above describes the focus of Luseland's Economic Development Committee. To this end, the committee has made inroads into beginning a web site for the town of Luseland, has prepared a brochure promoting our beautiful community and our services and businesses, and has explored avenues for drawing tourists and trades persons to the area.
The Committee has several projects that it plans to undertake,
some of which may include building a sod hut, advertising for trades persons
and improving signage. "Many hands make light work", and the committee
invites volunteers, regardless of age or how small a contribution you feel
you may be able to make, to take an active role in meeting the committee's
goals. The success of the committee's works, and indeed, the viability of
our town, may well depend on committed residents who are willing to share
of themselves to encourage growth in our community.
There were a number of excellent submissions for the new "Town of Luseland" sign to be erected near the horse and buggy on the edge of town. A committee of artists were appointed to judge the submissions and Gail McKenzie's art work featuring a duck flying overhead was chosen as the winner. Thank you to all those who entered the contest. Work will now begin on having the sign built and finding, with the goal for completion being July 1, 2005.
Welcome to our Community Package
The Luseland Community Development Committee is in the process of creating a package of information to welcome new comers to Luseland. This package would include brochures outlining the businesses, clubs or organizations, or a savings voucher or promotional item (i.e. pens, business cards). we are asking all businesses, churches, organizations and clubs who have brochures etc., they wish to have included in the package to contact Alberta Reiber or Angela Reiter.
Luseland Town Council has passed a bylaw to establish a sign corridor on Highway #31 northwest and southeast of Luseland. This sign corridor will provide an opportunity for businesses in the area to display a billboard to attract travelers/visitors to the community. Costs are associated with respect to the installation and continued maintenance of the billboards, but it is anticipated that over a period of time costs expended will be recouped by the additional traffic that businesses will experience from the billboard advertising. Please contact the town office to obtain relevant information with respect to installation of a billboard in the sigh corridor.
